NOTICE has been given by the Department For Transport, for the partial closure of a Wokingham street, to allow work to take place on a new residential development.
Permission to build a residential block housing 14 flats at 1 Barkham Road, beside the railway crossing at the end of Oxford Road, has been granted by Wokingham Borough Council.
The existing building was occupied by Jewsons builder’s merchants, but with no subsequent appropriate commercial use for it having been found, it has remained vacant for over a year.
Plans have been submitted for it to be demolished to make way for a residential block of six one bedroom flats and eight two bedroom flats, with landscaped grounds and parking spaces.
