THAMES Valley Police has made two arrests as part of an operation aimed at tackling acquisitive crime associated with drugs and violence.
Officers in Wokingham arrested two men on Monday, June 12, a 27-year-old and a 33-year-old, both from Wokingham, on suspicion of theft and motor vehicle interference offences.
Both of the men have been released on bail.
It is part of Operation Knelt, which looks to identify offenders who commit serious “acquisitive” crimes in relation to drugs or violence.
Acquisitive crime is a category of offence where perpetrators make material gains through illegal means, including theft and robbery, piracy, fraud, or larceny.
Thames Valley Police has continued to work with Wokingham Borough Council, as well as members of the Community Safety Partnership Team to prevent residents from becoming victims of crime.
Sergeant Emma Read said: “We rely on the public’s information as we look to combat these types of crime.

Cllr Ian Shenton, Executive Member for Environment, Sport and Leisure and member of the Wokingham Community Safety Partnership, said: “Our residents’ safety is our number one priority and although Wokingham borough is a relatively low crime area, we are determined to work within our communities to minimise criminal activity that harms our communities.
“The joint work being carried out on operations such as this are an excellent example of how Wokingham Borough Council work with Thames Valley Police and other local partners, to tackle criminal behaviour and bring to justice those individuals that may feel they are beyond the reach of the law.”
