Finchampstead parish council has unveiled a new play area at Finchampstead Memorial park, providing an exciting and vibrant space for children and families to enjoy.
The previous play area had served the community well for many years, but had become tired and outdated.
Following a full review, the parish council approved a complete refurbishment, replacing all of the old equipment with modern, imaginative and accessible play features designed to encourage active outdoor play.
The new play area now offers a far more engaging environment for children, with colourful, high-quality equipment that provides a variety of play experiences including climbing, balancing, sliding and imaginative play.
The refreshed space has been designed to appeal to a wide range of ages and abilities, ensuring that the park continues to be a welcoming place for families across the parish.
The installation was carried out by Setter Play, specialists in the design and installation of playgrounds, who worked closely with the parish council to deliver the new facility.
The entire project has been funded through the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL). CIL is a charge collected from developers when new development takes place in the area.
A proportion of these funds is passed directly to parish councils so that it can be invested back into the local community. This allows projects such as improvements to parks, play areas and other local infrastructure to be delivered for the benefit of residents.
By using CIL funding, Finchampstead parish council has been able to deliver a significant upgrade to one of the parish’s popular recreational spaces without drawing on the general precept.
It said it hopes the new play area will be enjoyed by local families for many years to come, and looks forward to seeing children making the most of this exciting new addition to Finchampstead Memorial park.
