MILLIONS of Brits named pub gardens as their ultimate summer happy place, a nationwide survey revealed.
The research, conducted by Chef & Brewer Collection, found that the average UK pub-goer kicks back in their favourite establishment’s outdoor section between four and five times in August.
Country pubs are by far the most popular type of pub to visit at this time of year, with nearly half of British adults (48%) selecting them as their ideal place to enjoy good and drink over the summer.
Survey participants cited the warm weather, enjoying a drink and relaxing with friends and families as their favourite things about pub gardens.
TV presenter, Jules Hudson, has partnered with Chef & Brewer Collection to celebrate the nation’s love of the Great British countryside. She said: “The atmosphere that you find in a country pub is like nothing else, with them often acting as a hub for generations of rural communities.
“So often located in quaint villages or idyllic countryside surroundings, country pubs are made extra special by their connection to the great outdoors.”
In terms of drinks orders, 26% of people declared gin as their ultimate summer tipple, with the variety of new flavours available a key factor in its increasing popularity.
Nearly one in 10 drinkers choose to mix gin with cola, a further 9% prefer it with ginger ale, while 8% enjoy a cranberry juice combination.
As part of Chef & Brewer Collection’s partnership with Warner’s Distillery, two limited edition summer drinks will now be served at its countryside pubs – its Berkshire establishments include Griffin in Caversham, George in Earley, and Old Bell in Grazeley – with 50p from every sale going to The Wildlife Trust BCN.
