YOU CAN’T beat a golden oldie, and you can’t beat hearing something new.

And that’s exactly what we’re offering you this week with the RaW Sounds Today playlist.

Heading it is the wonderful 10cc, which we recently enjoyed at The Hexagon. Also appearing are Annie Dressner and Grace Pounds, two new artists who we think you’ll love.

They are just three of 10 great acts we’ve got in this week’s playlist. Tune in for free on Spotify at: bit.ly/rawsoundstoday.

Don’t forget, we’ve got a Facebook group too with some lively banter. Search the social networking site for RaW Sounds Today and join in the fun.

10cc – I’m Mandy Fly Me

The band is touring to celebrate over 50 years since they released their self-titled debut album. We popped along to their recent show at Reading Hexagon and what a delight it was.

We were treated to a performance of so many gems from throughout their career. There were iconic hits such as I’m Not In Love, Dreadlock Holiday and this classic as well as some less known but utterly brilliant songs such as Somewhere in Hollywood and one of my all-time faves, the beautiful Old Wild Men.

I was lucky enough to see the band many years ago in their original lineup.

Now Graham Gouldman is the only one remaining but he plays with an excellent set of musicians some of whom have been part of the band’s live set-up since the early days.

They all performed perfectly, showcasing the inventive brilliance of all those wonderful timeless songs – https://www.10cc.world/

Annie Dressner – Dance We Do

Annie is an NYC-born Cambridge-based singer-songwriter who releases her new album, I Thought It Would Be Easier this Friday.

She produces quality emotional songs with an Americana feel ranging from mellow ballads to more upbeat songs such as this melodically infectious single from the album.

Annie is clearly a talent worth checking out and you can do that when she appears at St Mary’s Church, Purley on Thames on April 20 – https://anniedressner.com

Grace Pounds – Notice

We’ve heard good things about this young singer-songwriter from Reading so were very keen to listen to this debut single. We weren’t disappointed.

Grace has a distinctive and wonderful tone to her voice and she has written a very good song here. It certainly makes us want to hear more. Grace will be supporting Funke and the Two Tone Baby on May 2 at Reading Face Bar and she is also appearing at Are You Listening? on May 11, and Readipop on July 12 – https://www.facebook.com/GracePoundsMusic

Pinewall – Stealing Lightbulbs

Pinewall have released their first single of the year and it’s a blast of powerful indie rock with intense emotional lyrics – https://linktr.ee/pinewall

Radical Dance Faction – Rogue Trooper

RDF performed their impressive blend of dub, ska and punk at Reading’s Purple Turtle last Sunday – https://radicaldancefaction.com/

Ghost Dance – I Will Wait

From the world of 1980’s goth, it’s a band who are coming to Reading’s Face Bar on April 18 – https://ghost-dance.co.uk/

The Dianas – Domestique

Here’s a Reading band who will be live in their home town at Rising Sun Arts Centre on April 26 – https://www.facebook.com/theDIANAS.band

A Better Life – The First Light

The collective is led by producer Phil Daniels with a wonderfully chilled single featuring vocals of Holly Taymar – https://abetterlifemusic.com/

I See Orange – Love Me Too

Here’s a band from Swindon with their 90’s inspired grunge pop-rock. This is a great song from their Lonesome Joy EP – https://linkr.bio/ISEEORANGE

TV Yellow – Friday

Here’s another very good new melodic indie band and they will be live at Wokingham Festival in August – https://linktr.ee/tv_yellow
