AROUND 140 brass and wind players will gather in Wokingham to play and perform this weekend.
Bracknell and Wokingham Community Band (BWCB) is a group of four major wind and brass bands, and affiliated groups.
All the groups will take part in a Play Day in Wokingham under the baton of a guest director, and will end the afternoon with a concert.
Playing for pleasure, BWCB puts on concerts in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations throughout the borough, with programmes that include classical music, contemporary, jazz, pop, TV show music and film scores.
All the bands rehearse on Wednesday evenings in term-time at Holme Grange School.
The group aims to inspire and encourage anyone who wishes to play a musical instrument.
Newcomers, no matter their experience or lack of it, are welcomed on a non-audition ‘trial and consultation’ basis.
There is currently space for players of all abilities, and in all bands, particularly brass and percussion.
