A GROUP with a passion for ancient Egypt invites Woodley residents to join them at their next meeting.
Thames Valley Ancient Egypt Society’s September Lecture will look at The Libyan Pharaohs of Egypt and their Rediscovery.
Led by Professor Aidan Dodson, the talk is for anyone fascinated by Ancient Egypt.
The Thames Valley Ancient Egypt Society (TVAES) was established in 1994 to promote the study and public dissemination of culture, religion, art, language, life and death in ancient Egypt.
As an open and welcoming society, the group says its meetings provide an opportunity for members to share their interest in ancient Egypt with like-minded people, as well as the chance to learn a little (or even a lot) more about this fascinating subject.
The group attracts members from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxford, Surrey, Hampshire, Wiltshire, London and beyond to attend public lectures, study days and evening classes in Berkshire.
Visits to museums, places of interest, other courses and societies are included in the programme, and the group also organizes study tours to Egypt and Sudan and other areas of Egyptological interest.
Membership is open to anyone interested in ancient Egypt, and visitors can attend most events.
The next event, led by Professor Aidan Dodson, will take place at The Oakwood Centre, Woodley on Saturday, September 20 at 2pm (doors open at 1.30pm).
No booking is required, with entry free for members, or £4 cash on the door for visitors.
