Wokingham town council will once again lead the town in honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, with a series of Remembrance events taking place across Wokingham this November.
The town council will lead a two-minute silence in the Market Place at 11am on both Sunday November 9 (Remembrance Sunday) and Tuesday November 11 (Armistice Day), in line with the national moment of reflection.
The silence will be marked by the sounding of the Last Post and Reveille by the town’s Honorary bugler.
Residents are invited to join in these moments of quiet reflection to remember and honour all those who gave their lives in service to our country.
This year’s Remembrance church service and wreath laying will take place at All Saints Church, Wokingham, on Sunday November 9 at 3pm.
A parade, led by the St Sebastian Wokingham band, will form up at the Market Place from 2pm and depart at 2.35pm, travelling along Broad Street, Rose Street, and Wiltshire Road before arriving at the church.
The mayoral party, dignitaries, Veterans, scouts, guides, and other uniformed organisations will take part in this annual act of remembrance.
All residents are welcome to watch the parade and attend the service, which will be led by the Rev..Hannah Higginson in partnership with Churches Together in Wokingham.

Please note, church capacity is limited for the service. Visiting the War Memorial
During the week of remembrance, Wokingham’s Town Hall War Memorial will be open for quiet reflection between 10am and 2pm, Monday, November 3, until Friday, November 7. Visitors can access the memorial via the Information Centre or by pressing the WTC intercom to be greeted by a member of staff.

To facilitate these commemorations safely, brief road closures will be in place along Broad Street and Denmark Street during the two- minute silences on November 9 and November 11 at 11am. Rolling road closures will occur along the parade route on Sunday, November 9, between 2.30pm and 4.30pm. Motorists are advised to plan accordingly and follow diversion signs.
Following our Remembrance commemoration, the town council will be holding a Remembrance-themed Museum open day at the town hall in the Diamond Jubilee
Room on Monday, November 10.between 10am and 2pm.
