The Lexicon is delighted to again support The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal with the return of the pop-up poppy shop and a community-led art installation.
The pop-up shop is located on Braccan Walk next to River Island, and is open daily from 10.00am until 4.00pm.
Visitors can the 2025 poppy pin, traditional paper poppies and a wide range of Royal British Legion merchandise.
Tom Henderson, centre director at The Lexicon, said: “We are delighted to once again support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
“We’re incredibly proud to be providing the space to support poppy sales and of our colleague Sam, whose commitment truly embodies the spirit of remembrance.
“A huge thanks to all the volunteers and the local community groups who are supporting our pop-up shop.”
Local community group, Crafting Smiles, which brings Hong Kongers together through crochet, has donated 1,000 crocheted poppies to the shop, while Wendy Trenerry, finance assistant at The Lexicon, has handmade two poppy teddy bears.
Craft Coop led a community call-out for empty plastic bottles, recycling them into handmade poppies for a moving remembrance display in The Braccan Walk Pod.
Centrepiece of the display is a WWI Sopwith Camel made by Craft Cooper Wayne Chan, from Maidenhead.
This year, the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal highlights how, when a Veteran’s life falls apart, the RBL helps rebuild it. For some in the Armed Forces community, issues from service can affect them later in life, often with swift and devastating consequences.
Sam Buckley, operations manager at The Lexicon and a former member of the Armed Forces, has been a long-time supporter of The Royal British Legion.
He has volunteered at the pop-up shop for the past four years and once again will take two weeks of annual leave to dedicate his time to the appeal.
Sam said: “The Poppy Appeal is a chance to give back to veterans and to remember those who have served.
“Last year, our pop-up shop raised more than £21,000 and we’re hoping to beat that this year.
“We look forward to welcoming you to The Lexicon’s pop-up poppy shop.”
