Stormy Saturdays didn’t stop a local morris dance troupe from entertaining people.
Working to the old adage if wet, indoors, members of the OBJ Morris simply switched their stage from Market Place to one of its shops.
The morris dancers were in Wokingham for the Town Council’s Sunny Saturdays programme, but heavy rain during the morning prevented them from bashing sticks and dancing outside.
Instead, they ended up dancing in the entrance of the MyLocal store – which has just reopened as a Co-Op.
Colin Charman, the chairman of the side, said: “We were booked to dance in the square for Sunny Saturdays. It’s supposed to be sunny, but on this rare occasion it wasn’t.
“We popped into the store to buy a sandwich and the manager invited us to dance there instead.
“There were all sorts of bystanders looking in through the window wondering what was going on – it came as a bit of an amusement and kept everyone smiling.”

Astonishingly, the shop front is not the most unusual venue that the Bracknell-based side have performed in.
Mr Charman said it’s in their top 10, but is trumped by transport such as trains, boats and a helicopter.
The side have a more down-to-earth appearance tomorrow night – every Tuesday during the summer, they play in different pubs and they will be at Ye Olde Leathern Bottel. On Tuesday, July 12, they will be at The Two Poplars.
The club is also looking for new members to join them for the traditionally British activity.
“We started 20 years ago and we’re very keen to recruit new members,” Mr Charman said. “New and younger members are all welcome.”
