A broken down train at Wokingham’s railway station has caused severe disruption to passengers looking to get to London – or come to the borough from Wokingham on Saturday, July 14.
A team from Network Rail were called to the site in order to help move the train which broke down at 11.32am this morning. This has now happened, but the company is warning that there could be delays to services until 5pm this evening.
While the train was stranded at the platform, the other line was shared between trains going to Reading and trains going to London Waterloo. Eyewitnesses said that the train was stuck for two-and-a-half hours.

While the delays are in place, tickets can be used to get from London Victoria to London Paddington to get to Reading, and South Western Railways services can be used between Guildford and Clapham Junction or Basingstoke.
Tickets can also be used to get to Reading or Bracknell via the Lion bus services operated by Reading Buses. The 4 and X4 routes have stops outside Wokingham Station.
A note of South Western Railway’s website says:
Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 17:00 14/07.
Our control centre received a report that a Great Western Railway train had broken down between Reading and Ascot, blocking all lines.
GWR engineers have rectified the problem and the train has been moved.
Passengers have been caught out by the breakdown, and taken to social media to express their frustrations.
