WE KNEW we had a tough couple of road games last weekend.
Of course, it was disappointing not to pick up any points, but those losses won’t get in our way as we continue to build a successful season.
The scores can be misleading. I thought we played less well on Saturday night in our 3-1 loss in Basingstoke than in Peterborough where we lost 7-3. We had a strong first period against the Phantoms, but they scored heavily in the second period. Hockey fans know how quickly a goal can be scored. The guys didn’t drop their heads in the third period.
You’ve got to learn to have a short memory as a hockey player. Whether it’s a poor shift or a poor game, you need to learn from your mistakes, forget the disappointment and move on.
I am sure that our fans will see that this Saturday when we are back on home ice.
I am sure, too, that we’ll have lots of young fans adding to the atmosphere in the Hive. I’ve had tremendous support establishing the School Zone.
At the beginning of the season we thought to sign up 35 schools by Christmas would be a success. At present, the total is 50! That’s a measure of how hard so many people are working to make Bracknell Bees important in the community.
Hockey Night at the Hive is proving popular with young fans and families.
It’s great to see our life-long fans as well. They share our ambition to grow the club.
