John Redwood’s Christmas message to Wokingham Paper readers

John Redwood aims to stand again for Wokingham

Christmas brings celebration and warmth to the dark and cold days of December.

It is great to see the illuminations in Wokingham town centre and the many houses around the constituency lit up by Christmas lights.

I have enjoyed the Winter Carnival, the Living Advent calendar, the carol concerts and the decorations in the shops. It is a time for families to come together to  share a meal, and time for us all to remember those who are lonely or unhappy and to include them in our plans.

There are many in the Wokingham constituency who work for charities and collect money for good causes. Christmas is a good time to do so and to see the results as the money is used to improve the lives of those in need. I would like to thank all those who have been giving their time to making a difference.

Remembering a neighbour, visiting the elderly, organising an event for those who would otherwise miss out can make this time special for others who cannot make a Christmas for themselves.

I wish you all a very happy break from your daily work and routines. Hang high the holly, switch on the lights, roast the turkey and pour the drinks to make this Christmas memorable. Only a few days remain before the families gather and enjoy all that has been prepared. Do fit in a visit to our new town centre for those last-minute presents and items you need for a perfect Christmas.
