Mums’ Zone
Mums’ Zone is a holistic health and well-being intervention targeting inactive mums.
It aims to improve mental health and well-being by offering a programme (approx. 2 hours per week for 26 weeks starting in September 2019) of physical activity and health and well-being support, messaging and signposting as well as an opportunity for mums to get together in a comfortable setting to aid social networking and peer support.
We are recruiting female volunteers who have an affiliation with the project, be it a keen interest to support new mums, improve the lives of women and girls or as a mum themselves who has encountered challenges
The volunteers will support the sessions whether it be taking registration, offering peer support, offering health and well-being advice or supporting with the babies when the activity is taking place. It is envisaged that the role will develop over time.
The sessions will take place on Mondays, 10am-noon, St Crispin’s Leisure Centre in Wokingham and Fridays, 1pm-3pm at The Rainbow Centre, Rainbow Park, Winnersh.
Volunteers are required to attend a FREE one-day health and well-being training day which will cover more about the programme, including; behaviour change, mental health and motivational messaging which is take place at the on Thursday, September 5.
A DBS is required and will be provided free of charge.
WADE Day Centre
WADE Day Centre provides a location for the elderly residents of Wokingham over the age of sixty to socialise, meet new people and enjoy a hot two course lunch in a beautiful Grade II listed building, with a picturesque arden.
They are looking for volunteers who can chat to the Members and get involved with activities – games, art and craft, bingo etc.
Volunteers will need be available weekdays, daytimes.
Berkshire Vision
Berkshire Vision is a local registered charity with over 100 years of expertise and experience in the provision of services, advice and support to more than 2,000 people across Berkshire who are blind or partially sighted.
Across Wokingham and Bracknell drivers are needed to transport visually impaired members to and from activities and sports.
Being visually impaired can be a very isolating
and a lonely experience so we are looking for volunteers to spare a few hours when they can, to help us get as many members to our planned activities and Clubs as we can.
Drivers will be asked to collect members from their homes and bring them to planned activities that Berkshire Vision have organised, using their own vehicle.
They are also looking for Befriending volunteers to spare an hour or more when they can, to lend an ear to one of our members.
Some home visitors visit on a weekly basis, others carry out fortnightly or monthly visits.
They can work around the time you have available and agree the times best suited for you and the person you will be visiting.
