Daniella Johnson and Matthew Poole took part in the skydive on Saturday.

The sky’s the limit for a pair who dove 10,000 feet to raise money for dementia care on Saturday.

Daniella Johnson- Reminiscence Co-ordinator for Sunrise of Sunning care home- partook in a skydive with social worker for Wokingham Borough Council Matthew Poole.

Matthew Poole and Daniella Johnson.

Ms Johnson said: “I wanted to raise awareness and money for a society who are at the forefront of funding research into a cure for the disease and improving the care of those living with it.”

The pair have already raised over £1100 for the charity.

“My hope is that people become dementia aware and that individuals can live the best lives possible until a cure is found.

“This is a cause close to our hearts. Matthew’s grandad lived with dementia and I have been working in Dementia care for over 10 years. I work at a private care home supporting and caring for many people living with dementia as well as their families.”

Daniella leads the dementia unit at Sunrise of Sonning. She added: “I am delighted to lead my dedicated team to ensure we deliver the best person-centred dementia care. Every day is different and to understand the needs of our residents, building relationships with them and keeping in touch with their families, is the most important and rewarding job.

“Each individual makes my day worthwhile, and a smile and a hug completes it!”

Ms Johnson is Reminiscence Co-ordinator for Sunrise of Sonning.

And Wokingham-based dementia expert Sandy Sweet-whose mother is a resident of Sunrise of Sonning- is a supporter of Ms Johnson’s work. She said: “Daniella is an amazing lady who really cares about all the residents she looks after. Raising money for The Alzheimer’s Society on her days off by jumping out of aeroplanes is pretty special.”
