Mark Ashwell, Conservatives
I have lived, worked, and played in Emmbrook for nearly forty years. My wife and I raised three sons here, and they are now raising our five grandchildren.
Since moving here as a young man, I am proud to have served our community in education, business and government. During that time I have been Chairman of governors at Emmbrook Junior School, President of the Wokingham Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of Wokingham Town Council amenities committee.
I worked for almost two decades to help deliver the regeneration of Wokingham Town Centre. It is a huge pleasure to hear so many residents tell me how delighted they are by the end results.
Now the disruption is over, I agree that our town centre looks incredible and will serve our community very well for years to come. All achieved despite the opposition of local Liberal Democrats who protested and campaigned to stop the much-needed regeneration.
Many of you will know me as an independent local businessman. Professionally, I am known for getting on with the job and being happy to be measured by my performance.
You might also know me as the Chairman of Emmbrook Sports & Social Club on Lowther Road and as a patron of our disabled children’s charity Building for The Future on Toutley Road.
Emmbrook has seen additional housing over past years which has brought new opportunities and some new challenges. As an Emmbrook resident I am pleased that, as well as new neighbours, this expansion has brought significant investment into our community. We now need to ensure that money is invested wisely.
If elected, I would be the champion of Conservative values for Emmbrook, and your voice at the council. Living here, I know the issues that really matter. With your support I can stand up for Emmbrook and ensure that we are all proud of Wokingham

I grew up and went to school in Wokingham and my family live locally. I have been serving as a Wokingham Borough Councillor since 2016. My passions include fighting to keep Wokingham as a nice place to live, and a place that celebrates its diversity and is welcoming to all. Outside of my councillor duties I work as an engineer in the IT industry and enjoy walking my dog in our local parks.
