READING FC backed up their draw against West Ham with a strong display away at Wimbledon on Tuesday night.
Paul Ince’s men secured a 2-0 win at Plough Lane, with goals coming from Yakou Meite and Jeff Hendrick.
Summer signing Dean Bouzanis impressed on his debut, saving a penalty midway through the second half.
The 691 travelling Royals fans who braved Britain’s warmest ever day, and subsequent showers, will be pleased with their team’s performance.
Bouzanis 7: Can only start with the penalty save. Guessed the right way, getting a firm hand to the ball. Was untroubled for extended periods but did well when called upon. Ince will have his work cut out when picking his number one.
Yiadom 6: Another solid performance from the ever-dependable right-back. Pushed up more as the game progressed.
McIntyre 6: Won his aerial duels and supported Azeez on the left side of defence. Did not have as much joy stepping up with the ball as he did against West Ham.
Holmes 7: An assured display from the young centre-back. Positioned himself well, stopping a number of Wimbledon counter attacks. Punched a few useful passes into midfield to break the line.
Hutchinson 7: Continued looking comfortable at the heart of Reading’s back five. Organised the defence well and saw plenty of the ball. His clearance-come-long-ball led to the first goal.
Hendrick 7: Deserved his goal. Showed glimpses of class in the first half but really came into his own in the second. Recycled the ball well and looked most likely to unlock the Wimbledon defence.
Ejaria 6: Worked tirelessly to recover possession for his team. Often beat his marker with trademark quick feet, but also held onto the ball too long on a number of occasions. Promising performance.
Azeez 6: Put in a decent shift on the left side of the back five. Grew into the game, particularly in the second half, when he enjoyed cutting inside higher up the pitch.
Ince 5: Started on the right side of a midfield three, before moving to wide right in the second half. Should have got on the scoresheet when Joao played him in in the second half.
Meite 6: Took his goal well. Was constantly looking to get in behind the Wimbledon back line. Drove with purpose when in possession.
Joao 6: A low-key display from Reading’s target man. Spurned a gilt-edged chance after a teasing ball in behind from Hendrick. Showed his strength for the first goal however, heading the ball perfectly into Meite’s path.
Guiness-Walker 7: Made the most of his opportunity. Bombed down the left side on numerous occasions. Wimbledon’s right-back would not have appreciated Guiness-Walker’s inclusion.
Hoilett 5: Quiet. Never really got into the game. More to come from the Canadian.
El Mhanni 6: Latched onto a poor Wimbledon clearance and could have got on the scoresheet but for his shot just missing the post.
Fornah 5: Pressed well when he came on. Did not have enough time to put his mark on the game.
Tetek 5: Partnered with Fornah in midfield in the dying embers of the match. Worked hard.
Abrefa 5: Replaced Yiadom at right-back. Showed signs of promise in possession.
Ehibhatiomhan 4: Struggled to get involved.
