A GROUP that supports carers, and people living with dementia to better understand the condition, reports that its recent quiz has been a great success.
Understanding Dementia aims to promote clear understanding of dementia, how it affects people, and how to lessen its impact on those who live with it.
The Twyford charity’s recent quiz fundraiser at Charvil Village Hall attracted 117 quizzers, forming 18 teams.
“We had a clear winner and second place team, but a tense third place was decided with a tiebreaker question,” said Lucy White from Understanding Dementia.
“And we had a very successful raffle and auction, which together ensured that the evening made £2570.
“We are very pleased with that, and grateful to all who came, and who contributed.”
Further fundraising events are being planned by the charity, including a summer barn dance for 2026.
Understanding Dementia holds courses for family carers and professionals, and says that places are already being booking up for the charity’s January course.
The organisation is also rolling out a course for those who volunteer with people living with dementia, dates of which are to be confirmed.
