WORKS to repair the A329M Loddon Viaduct has been completed ahead of schedule.
The repair work, which started on July 22, was expected to last six weeks, but thanks to good weather and the bridge not requiring as much work as first thought, it is due to fully re-open from 6am tomorrow morning (Saturday), two weeks early.
This £1.1million scheme is a major project which has seen the old and noisy bridge joints on the viaduct replaced, a new permanent safety barriers installed, drainage improved, waterproofing the bridge deck, and resurfacing the carriageway.
Wokingham Borough Council (WBC)’s executive member for highways and transport, Cllr Malcolm Richards said: “I’d like to thank everyone who uses Loddon Viaduct for being patient with us while this essential work was carried out; for taking alternative routes or allowing more time for their journeys.
“This was the second and final part of much-needed work to repair and upgrade this stretch of highway.We appreciate the roadworks have been an inconvenience for road users but are delighted they have been completed ahead of schedule. We know how important this route is and our contractors have been working around the clock to get the job done safely.”
