A picture perfect way to help a local charity has been found by a camera club.
Members of Wokingham and East Berkshire Camera Club (WEBCC) presented a cheque for £100 to the Wokingham District Cancer Care Trust (WDCCT) after selling second-hand camera equipment at its January meeting.
The money came from commission taken during the sale and the trust was delighted to receive the donation.
Dr Martin Haslam, Chair of WDCCT Trustees said: “WDCCT is a local charity that depends entirely upon local giving to support its activities so we are very grateful to Wokingham and East Berkshire Camera Club for their generous donation. It will help us support individuals in the community and the services at the Day Hospice.”
Rodney Hart, deputy chairman of WEBCC, said: “Our Club was pleased to be able to help. It has been great for our members to donate to such a worthy local cause.”
Co-operation between Tony Martin, Trustee of WDCCT, and Rodney Hart began in 2014 when the camera club was asked to provide photographs for the Trust’s charity calendars for 2015 and 2016.
Something like 150 local pictures were provided by camera club members, from which the Trust chose those included in the calendars and those Camera Club members whose pictures were chosen were delighted that their images could be seen by a wider audience.
