CALIFORNIA Gardeners’ Club has invited an expert on mulches and growing media to give the next talk, at their June meeting.
Invited speaker Neil Gray of Melcourt Industries Ltd will dig into the subject of peat-free compost.
The soil amendment is made from materials other than peat (typically wood fibre, bark, coconut fibre and green waste), and is better for the invironment than depleting natural peat bogs.
California Gardeners’ Club talks throughout the year cover a range of gardening subjects, and the group is also able to enjoy exhibitions of produce, as well as social gatherings.
Meetings are at The Ratepayers’ Hall on the first Monday of every month.
To hear Neil’s talk on peat-free growing medium, people should make their way to The Ratepayers’ Hall, Finchampstead, on Monday, June 2.
Doors open at 8pm, and visitors are welcome.
Entry costs just £2, or £7 for the whole year.
