Andy Carroll set to depart Reading FC to join French side

READING FC striker Andy Carroll looks set to complete a move away from the club in the final week of the transfer window with interest from France.

It has been reported that Ligue 2 side Amiens SC are close to capturing his signature.

Carroll has featured in two league games for Reading this season, but has appeared to fall out of favour with Ruben Selles preferring a different profile up top which has seen the forward omitted from the last four matchday squads.

Carroll has had two spells with the Royals. He first joined under Veljko Paunovic on a short term deal in November 2021.

He made eight Championship appearances and scored two goals before leaving to join West Brom for the remainder of the season.

After departing West Brom, Carroll rejoined Reading in September 2022 under Paul Ince on another short term deal, which was eventually extended.

Carroll scored nine goals in 30 games as the Royals suffered the drop from the Championship.

The former England international now looks poised to join Amiens, who are currently in second position in Ligue 2 after the first four games.

The summer transfer window closes on Friday with Reading hoping to finalise some deals which could be completed as a result of freeing up the wage bill with Carroll’s departure
