A fresh battle will be fought over plans to build 23 homes on the fields which are the former home of Hurst Show.
Wokingham Borough Council refused the plan permission in February, but now the applicant has appealed against that.
A total of 378 messages were sent objecting to the council giving permission, and 17 were written in support.
There will be the chance for anyone to give their views on the appeal to the Planning Inspectorate which will make the final decision.
The homes are proposed for land in School Road, Hurst between St Nicholas Primary School, Hurst and Hurst Village Hall.
Hurst Show and Country Fayre is still held, this year on June 29 and 30, in the area around the village hall and Martineau Green.
Douglas Bond, in his statement on behalf of the applicants, says the appeal should be allowed. He said there was a shortage of housing land supply in the borough.
He added that the plan would provide much-needed housing and affordable homes in a high-quality, sensitive scheme. Significant weight should be attached to those benefits.
The council, refusing permission said the proposal was unacceptable, unplanned development outside development limits.
It was an unsustainable location that would result in future residents relying on private motor vehicles for day-to-day needs and would not encourage sustainable transport.
