A PARTY fit for the Queen – that’s the promise from Wokingham Borough Council as it prepares to help residents get together to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee this June.
It is to waive all charges for groups wanting to close roads for street parties between June 2 and 5.
Council leader John Halsall said that the procedure would be simple and free.
“Unless of course,” he said, “You want to close the A329M, which would not be simple.
“If you want to have a street party in a normal, minor road we will try and make that as simple and free as possible.”
The Jubilee will, he hoped, be a time of great celebration of the Queen’s reign.
“I shall certainly be celebrating, and I really wish Her Majesty well and thank her for her service to the country.”
