A WOKINGHAM local authority is celebrating a significant milestone this year.
Arborfield and Newland Parish Council is marking 75 years since the two parishes of Arborfield and Newland joined together to form one body.
Members came together at its recent annual meeting at the village hall on Eversley Road to mark the occasion – a commemorative cake was designed and brought along.
The parish council is made up of 10 councillors, nine covering Arborfield wards and one Arborfield Green ward.
As the lowest tier of local government, its councillors are representatives on a wide range of borough-wide committees, and they liaise with borough councillors on issues affecting residents.
The parish council oversees the provision of assets such as Pound Copse woodland, Arborfield Park, the Pavilion, as well as several other services.
It operates from Arborfield community Centre on Sheerlands Road.
