A GROUP of bird box builders is looking for more volunteers to help make homes for a variety of birds – and hedgehogs.
The Eco Skills Learning Centre, closely linked with Lambs Lane Repair Centre, needs people to help them extend the group’s range of borough wildlife home kits.
Billie Bachra, who runs the group, said: “This is a great opportunity to work in a team, to cut wood, help improve designs and make new friends.
“We are very informal and friendly, and we meet at the Eco Skills Learning Center, Pudding Lane Nursery Arborfield every Wednesday between 10 am and 3pm.
The group is looking to add to its current range of boxes new designs suitable forhedgehogs, swallows, sparrows, house martins and swifts.
To do this, they will need more volunteers to help us prepare the kits used for youth workshops, during which young people put the materials together..
“You don’t need to come every week,” said Billie.
“And you’ll be welcome to come for as little as an hour, or as long as it suits you.
“We can provide training if needed.”
The group’s next Repair Cafe at Lambs Lane Primary School, Spencers Wood takes place on Sunday, May 18, from 10am until 1pm.
