A FURIOUS mum has hit out after claiming Asda sold her nappy cream that was almost a year out of date.
Daniella Draper said the Bepanthen ointment was delivered as part of her online grocery order from the Lower Earley store.
But the Wokingham mum was even angrier when she bought a second cream from the same branch for herself which was four months past its best before date.
Daniella said she wanted to warn other parents in case they used the same products on their baby or themselves.
She has also demanded a formal apology from ASDA, and contacted Trading Standards and Bayer, who manufacture Bepanthen products.

“The nappy care ointment was delivered in November as part of my order. It was only when my husband went to use it on our daughter who was eight-months-old at the time, that he noticed the best before end date was December 2017.
“I called the online groceries customer services that evening to alert them about the cream. I was worried other unsuspecting parents might also buy the same product.
“They said that they would organise a refund and that I should receive a confirmation email. I did not receive a confirmation email, nor did the refund materialise. I phoned again on January 9 and again was promised a refund, but it still did not happen.”
However, Daniella was in for a second shock when she visited the Lower Earley branch a week later to buy a replacement nappy cream.
“I purchased another Bepanthen product, an anti-stretch mark cream, by mistake,” she said. “When I got home, I looked at the best before end date, and it was September 2018, four months out of date.
“I phoned ASDA customer services, who were more inclined to listen to me this time and promised to check the shelves. I do not know if this happened.”
Daniella said it was “totally unacceptable” that the same store should sell two products that were out of date.
“Any company/store that takes trading ethics and the safety of young children seriously would not allow this to happen. While I am incredibly glad that I did not use the expired nappy cream on my baby, I do wonder how many nappy creams purchased from ASDA have also been out of date without my knowledge, and how many other unsuspecting mothers have purchased similar products past their expiry date.
“I have also spent a lot of time chasing ASDA customer services and the online team to try and sort this out, not to mention helping ASDA to identify their out-of-date items.”
A spokesman for Asda said it was investigating the matter and was in contact with Daniella.
