Wokingham Borough council has approved plans that will see the rebuild of a barn that was severely damaged by fire earlier this year.
Owners of the Bull Inn in Arborfield applied for permission for a like-for-like rebuild of the structure, which was ravaged by fire in April 2024.
A structural engineers report confirmed the barn needed to be rebuilt from the brick plinth up.
Documents submitted with the plans said: “As the proposal is neither major development, a major change of use application or a listed building application, we do not consider that a planning statement will be required.
“The development is a like-for-like rebuilding of the previous barn, which will replicate its external appearance and the former listed structure.
April’s fire was so severe that none of the historic timber framing and roof structure elements were salvageable.
The intention is for a faithful reconstruction of the barn of a traditional oak-framed construction, with traditional clay tiles for the roof and stained weatherboarding to the elevation.
Officers granted permission for the rebuild on September 13, 2024.
