Wokingham Borough Council is urging cae park users to be aware of text messages involving car parking scams.
It said it was aware of a parking scam text that has been circulating, and urged drivers to be cautious before following any links, and submitting any information if you aren’t certain who it’s from.
It cited an example of a scam text which was recently received by a Wokingham resident.
They checked it out and blocked the number before sending a screenshot to Wokingham Borough Council to warn others.
A spokesperson said: “We would not contact you by text for a parking penalty charge notice, so if you get a text please ignore it.
“You can also report a scam text by forwarding it to 7726.”
