BEEKEEPING is the subject of the February meeting of the Woodley WISE Over 50s Forum. The group welcomes a guest speaker every month, and this time it will be Sam Milligan.
He heads up the youthwork charity JAC (Just Around The Corner). This offers detached youthwork across the Woodley area and runs an equine-assisted learning facility on Forest Road in Wokingham.
At this site, the charity keeps several hives, allowing them to teach people about beekeeping.
For this talk, Mr Milligan will bring an empty beehive to show, and it is hoped that the charity will be able to sell some honey and eggs produced on its site.
This session is on Tuesday, February 13.
Looking ahead, on Tuesday, March 12, they will welcome Sue Young from AgeUK, who will focus on the charity’s work including dementia.
Both sessions run from 2pm to 4pm at Coronation Hall on Headley Road Entry is £3. The group also holds a raffle, with tickets at 50p each, or five for £2.
