Berkshire Cricket League round-up: Shinfield crowned Premier champions

Premier Division

Shinfield were crowned as the Premier Division Champions finishing their campaign on 381 points with 11 victories from 18 matches. 

Crowthorne & Crown Wood’s season ended in defeat after they were beaten by four wickets by Woodcote to confirm a third place finish in the division. 

The Crows also won 11 of their 18 matches, but finished behind their weekends opponents.

Woodley’s season also ended in a loss as they were beaten comfortably by eight wickets by Ibis Mapledurham. Woodley were bowled all out for 139 before Ibis chased down the score within 28.1 overs. 

Woodley end the season in seventh having picked up 280 points across the season.

Division 1

Twyford and Ruscombe sealed promotion to the Premier Division with two games to spare after they beat Peppard Stoke Row 2s by four wickets.

Twyford chased down 174 to win the match after 34.2 overs having bowled Peppard all out for 173 in the first innings. 

Farley Hill confirmed a fourth place finish in the league despite suffering a narrow defeat to Shinfield 2s who finished in fifth. 

Woodley recorded a nine wicket thrashing over Warfield in their penultimate game of the season. They skittled their opponents all out for just 110, before chasing down the target successfully in 20.2 overs, They sit in seventh place with one fixture remaining. 

Waltham St Lawrence beat Crowthorne & Crown Wood 2s by five wickets in a bottom of the table clash. Waltham are currently bottom of the table with one game remaining, while Crowthorne finished their season just one place above them and subsequently face relegation to division 2.

Division 2

Earley secured promotion to division 1 after they beat Sulhamstead & Ufton 3s by five wickets in their final match of the season. Charlie Johnson hit 59 not out as Earley successfully chased down 181 to confirm their second place finish. 

Knowl Hill suffered a heavy defeat on the final day of the season as they were beaten by 199 against West Reading 3s.

West Reading knocked a huge total of 328 in the first innings, while Knowl only managed 129 before they were bowled all out. They finish the campaign in fourth.

Wokingham 6s season concluded with a loss as Reading Lions beat them by six wickets. They chased down 150 to win the match after 26.3 overs as Wokingham finish the season in sixth.

Division 3

Earley 2s made it a weekend to remember as they sealed the clubs second promotion as they beat Binfield 4s by 29 runs in their penultimate fixture of the season.

Earley defended their first innings total of 214 after Binfield finished on 185 to confirm a second placed finish, earning them promotion to Division 2 for next season.

Crowthorne & Crown Wood 3s ended their season with an impressive 37 run victory over Shinfield 3s.

Crowthorne were bowled all out for just 124 but put in a remarkable bowling effort to remove Shinfield for just 87 as David McQuitty took 4-29 to help them to victory. 

Crowthorne finish in ninth, while their opponents Shinfield end the season in fourth position.
