Reading FC took another step in the right direction in League One as in-form forward Jack Marriott scored again to help the Royals to a 2-0 win over Burton Albion.
Marriott now has eight goals in 13 matches and has the best goals to minutes ratio in the entire division.
Reading missed a brilliant chance to go in front after a defence splitting pass from Lewis Wing ended in a chance for Daniel Kyerewaa who fired over the target with the goal gaping.
Marriott opened the scoring in the first-half when he flicked a header into the far corner from Matt Ricthie’s excellently clipped cross.
Kyerewaa then amended for his earlier miss when he bagged his first home goal for the Royals to give his side a more comfortable lead.
The result keeps Reading in 10th position where they are level with Mansfield Town with an identical goal difference, goals scored and goals conceded record.
Next up for Reading they host Stockport on Sunday, January 4.
Stockport have had an excellent first-half of the campaign and are currently in 4th position on 39 points from 23 games as they continue to chase promotion to the Championship.
