Plans for a two-storey extension at a Wokingham motorcycle business have been refused for the second time in three months.
Rideworx at 125 Reading Road had sought to build additional space to provide a greater amount of retail floorspace to display motorbikes, accessories including motorcycle clothing, storage and larger changing rooms.
It said the current use has proved to be highly successful in this location, and the proposed extension and planned expansion of the business was a reflection of this.
An application in January was refused by Wokingham Borough Council, who said the proposed two-storey front extension, by virtue of its height, design, sitting and materials would result in a visually dominant and incongruous addition to the host building, which would be detrimental to the character and appearance of the surrounding area.
In the latest refusal last week, is noted that the revised plans for the proposed two-storey front extension, by reason of its design, form, proportions, siting and materials, would result in an incongruous and prominent addition to the street scene, that would fail to achieve a high quality of design, and would negatively impact the character and appearance of the area.
