A second attempt to relocate the Big Leisure car wash in Bracknell Leisure centre has been refused.
Owners of the business in on Bagshot Road wanted to move closer to the vehicle access of the car park that it is currently located in.
ET Planning argued the car wash forms part of the wider ‘commercial’ character of the area which has a KFC, Shell Garage and Kwik Fit. The consultants said because of this, it would not be out of keeping with the local area.
But Bracknell Forest Council planning officers disagreed, and said the scale of the car wash would be ‘overly prominent’.
In its refusal letter, the council said it would have a detrimental impact on people using Bagshot Road.

Reading Blue Coat School in Sonning would like to build a number of temporary classrooms.
The school has applied to Wokingham Borough Council to temporarily construct a performing arts studio, music classroom, practice rooms and staff offices.
It would take up 540 square metres on the school grounds and comes as part of the demolition and reconstruction of Way Hall.
The temporary buildings would be required for around 80 weeks, plans submitted to the council indicate.
The plans have been validated by Wokingham Borough Council and a decision is yet to be made.

The council is seeking planning permission to fly a VE Day 80 celebration flag outside it’s offices.
VE Day, or Victory in Europe Day, is celebrating its 80th anniversary on May 8. This is when the German forces surrendered to the Allied powers at the end of World War II.
Bracknell Forest Council’s offices are in Times Square, Market Street. The authority must seek planning permission to fly a flag on its existing pole outside the front entrance.
The council says the flag would go up during the period of national celebration.

A developer has lost a bid to not supply public transport measures as part of a new housing development.
Weston Homes Plc wanted to remove a condition from already approved planning permission for its building of flats and commercial space at Bracknell Beeches.
The developer argued it did not need to provide a Shuttle Bus, which was part of original plans, due to the proximity to other forms of public transport and the town centre.
But Bracknell Forest Council refused the removal of the condition, writing that it would ‘water down the agreed package’ of sustainable transport measures put forward by the applicant.
