South Hall Park’s invisible disabilities project concludes this Saturday.
The Access all Areas project is holding a finissage, or closing event, between 11am and 1pm in the venue’s Grand Staircase Gallery.
There will also be a monoprint workshop drop in session.
The finissage closes the 10-week project that aims to develop an understanding and raise awareness of the lived experience of people with invisible disabilities.
The exhibition features artwork created by members of Mind’s Friends in Need Bracknell group during printmaking sessions, led by South Hill Park’s artist in residence Basia Gorska. It will also showcase work from a creative writing workshop, led by Dr Lynn Hamilton.
There are many invisible disabilities and illnesses that the project aimed to explore, including Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Diabetes, Cystic Fibrosis, epilepsy, HIV, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, severe depression and anxiety.
Findings from the project, which was funded by the National Lottery’s community fund, will be used by South Hill Park to inform future programming.
The event is free to enter, but booking is essential.
