The MP for Bracknell has welcomed a government-commissioned independent review into teaching and assessments.
Peter Swallow, the Labour MP for Bracknell, spoke in Parliament to welcome the independent Curriculum and Assessment Review.
The review is being conducted with the aim of ensuring teaching and grading are fit for purpose and meets the needs of children and young people.
Mr Swallow said: “I warmly welcome this Curriculum and Assessment Review, particularly what it says about a broad curriculum, about the importance of enrichment, and essential skills like digital, financial and media literacy and communication.”
He then suggested that young people should be provided with a Skills Passport, which would ‘properly recognise’ the skills they have built up both for themselves and future employers.
Bridget Phillipson, the education secretary, said: “My honourable friend always champions children and young people in his constituency and has a lot to offer in terms of his background in education.
“I’d be happy to discuss his ideas further with him.”
Mrs Phillipson is the Labour MP for Houghton and Sunderland South.
