HOUSEHOLD items requiring some TLC are set to be given a new lease of life at an upcoming community event.
The monthly Spencers Wood repair cafe returns on Sunday, November 19, with residents able to bring broken items to be fixed by the group’s able team of volunteers at Lambs Lane Primary School.
A visitor at a previous repair cafe session said: “Very helpful and knowledgeable technicians who showed and explained what they had done and what needed to be done.
“They also gave advice on where to go for guidance that was beyond the scope of the repair cafe.”
Another service user didn’t have such luck with her items, but said: “Excellent service. Now I’m happy to purchase a replacement knowing it can’t be fixed.
“Wonderful to meet everyone and will be promoted to family and friends.”
Visitors can watch and learn how their items are mended or enjoy refreshments next door in the Communi-Tea Room. A book swap will run concurrently.
The initiative’s goal is to provide both economical and environmental solutions to product waste.
The repair cafe takes place between 10am-1pm.
