Bone-Idle – Listen Now
This Reading-based three-piece are creating a buzz with their exciting live performances and impressive single releases.
We featured the band’s ‘Superficial’ in our opening playlist of the year and they recently released ‘Listen Now’. It’s another good one, opening with a gentle guitar riff overlaid with a strong melodic vocal before the whole band kicks in resulting in a great example of the quality that they are capable of.
They are live at a Jamma-promoted gig at Brewdog Reading on Friday, May 3, and another of our fave bands, Who Ate All The Crayons, will be there too so it should be quite a night.
Well worth popping along to that and also to Wokingham Festival in August as both bands are on the bill amongst many others – https://www.instagram.com/bone_idleuk
BarrelHaus – All Aboard
It’s a burst of energy in under three minutes on this new single from Oxford-based, BarrelHaus who are based around musicians Marc Challans and Ian Mitchell.
With angst-driven lyrics and powerful playing, including a wonderfully exciting thrashy guitar solo, it bodes well for their forthcoming new album, Azimuth, which is due on May 3.
They will be live at Are You Listening? Festival on May 11 – https://songwhip.com/barrelhaus
Neil Wighton – Precious Life
Neil has certainly been busy this year.
As well as playing with Spriggan Mist, this is his third solo single release.
We featured the first of those, There’ll Come A Time in January and it has become a fave of ours. We are pleased to say that this single is strong too. It’s a bit of an epic at over seven minutes with a great feel and no surprise with Neil, some excellent guitar solos – https://www.facebook.com/61555415787435
10cc – I’m Mandy Fly Me
This legendary band showed what brilliantly inventive songwriters they are when they performed a wonderful set at Reading Hexagon recently. This is a classic from their How Dare You? album – https://www.10cc.world/
Annie Dressner – Dance We Do
Annie is a talented singer-songwriter who has just released her new album, I Thought It Would Be Easier. She is visiting the area to play live at St Mary’s Church, Purley-on-Thames on April 20 – https://anniedressner.com

Pinewall – Stealing Lightbulbs
