JAAP STAM is tipping Callum Harriott to become a fans’ favourite at Madejski Stadium.
The 22-year-old became the latest piece of the Reading boss’ jigsaw after the winger completed a switch from Charlton Athletic earlier today, signing a three-year contract.
“I think Callum is a player the fans will love if they like attractive, attacking football,” said Stam of the former England Under-19 international, who arrives at the club for a fee which has not been disclosed.
“He is the type of winger who is difficut for opponents to predict – he has a lot of pace, he’s good on the ball, very strong in one-v-one situations and he has goalscoring capabilities as well.
“I’m sure he will be a great asset to the team.”
Royals’ eighth new arrival of the close season had been with the Addicks from a young age, working his way from Under-9 level through the ranks and up to the first-team, where he was handed his debut as a 17-year-old.

His first professional goal came just five days after turning 19 and was the winner in a 1-0 victory over Huddersfield Town.
Harriott spent part of last season on loan at then-League One side Colchester, where he wracked up seven goals in 23 appearances.
He would mark his return to Charlton with a brace during a victory over Brentford before also netting in a win against Middlesborough, but his efforts could not stop the south London side from dropping out of the Championship.
“I am really pleased to welcome another young, talented, attack-minded player to Madejski Stadium,” added Nigel Howe, chief executive.
“Callum was a name on a lot of other clubs’ wish lists and we are delighted he has decided to join us here at Reading.”
Harriott has been given squad number 15 and has signed in time to be available for Reading’s league opener against Preston North End on Saturday.
