GPs are enrolling participants across the county to a clinical trial investigating the effectiveness of new oral antiviral treatments.

Cllr Charles margetts, executive member for health at the borough council, said that plans are evolving to deliver booster jabs across the borough.

Cllr Charles Margetts said that he has written to Berkshire West CCG and BOB ICS calling for urgent action to increase booster jab capacity.

Due to the number of infections, the borough council wrote to all schools last month advising them to consider implementing key measures.

The reminder comes after the programme was extended to 12 to 15 year olds. Jabs are not yet available for this age group.

"We need the service now. There are not enough pharmacies or GPs offering booster jabs," said Cllr Charles Margetts, from the borough council.

With the national rate of infection reaching 440.3 per 100,000 people, the Government has made face masks mandatory in shops and on public transport.

COVID rates are ?coming nicely down? according to the leader of Wokingham Borough Council.

This morning, the weekly rate per 100,000 population reached 704.8, the highest since records began.

Face masks are being advised for all secondary school pupils in the borough from now until half term said a council spokesperson.
