Wokingham town mayor, councillor Lou Timlin, will host a special evening to celebrate International Women’s Day 2026, recognising inspiring local women who make a positive difference in the community every day.
The event will take place on Thursday, March 12 between 7.00pm and 10.00pm at Wokingham town hall, and will feature talks from three outstanding Wokingham women: Debs Morrison, chief executive officer of CLASP (Caring, Listening and Supportive Partnership); Annette Medhurst, manager of Wokingham food bank; and Vickie Robertson, founder and chief executive officer of Kaleidoscopic UK.
Each speaker will share their experiences and the impact of their work supporting local residents.
The evening will also include a reading by local poet Fiona Dignan, who has written a poem especially for the occasion.
A raffle will be held with prizes including a handcrafted doll by The Barkham Hookers, a poster of Fiona’s poem and other lovely items.
Tickets cost £5 and include a welcome drink, along with time for informal networking and conversation.
Tickets can be booked at www.ticketsource.co.uk/louise-timlin.
Town mayor Lou Timlin said: “I’m really looking forward to hosting this event in celebration of International Women’s Day in our fabulous town hall.
“We have some amazing local women coming along who will be sharing their stories and telling us about the important work that they do to support our community.
“We also have an incredibly talented local poet, Fiona Dignan, who will be performing a poem she has written for this event. We are keeping the cost deliberately low, just £5 and that includes a welcome drink.
“It promises to be a great evening with plenty of time for networking and fun.”
