McDonald’s has been refused permission to make changes to its new store on Finchampstead Road.
The fast food giant had sought planning permission from Wokingham borough council for the installation of a west side delivery door at its new unit at Bridge Retail Park, and for the reconfiguration of louvres across the north side elevation.
It said in its application that: “In the context of the original scheme, the proposed reconfiguration of louvres across the north side elevation are non-material minor amendments, and would not ultimately change the scope of the permission, or create a materially different impact.
“The other proposed alteration involves the insertion of a side door on the west elevation.
“This would be a delivery door and would replace the permitted delivery door on the north elevation.
“Whilst this alteration would be non-material to the overall appearance of the building, it would result in the delivery entrance moving so that it is opposite the properties in Oakey Drive.
In rejecting the application yesterday (June 30), Wokingham borough council officers wrote: “The proposed relocation of the delivery door from the north elevation to the west elevation results in this entrance being opposite the properties in Oakey Drive.
“This could affect the impact of deliveries to neighbouring residents
“Overall, this aspect of the application would have material consequences from the permitted application, and the non-material amendment is therefore refused.”
Wokingham Today revealed last week that the new restaurant is set to open in September.
