AGREEMENT has been reached to repair a sinkhole in a Charvil car park.
Cllr Sam Akhtar wanted to know what was happening with the hole in the Charvil Piggott Primary School, which appeared in November. He said it was very dangerous and requested a timeline for the remedial works.
Responding, Cllr Paul Fishwick confirmed Charvil Parish Council and Wokingham Borough Council had agreed a way forward, and extensive survey work to review geology and drainage in the areas was necessary to ensure it wasn’t a wider problem.
“We estimate these (works) will be concluded no later than the end of April,” he said. “We know the problem is confined to the area of the sinkhole itself. We intend to reopen the eastern area of the car park, nearest the school, while work proceeds on the sinkhole which should remove the necessity for parking on the road.”
The exchange took place at the Wokingham Borough Council meeting of Thursday, March 21.
