A SUPPORT worker who takes her clients to CLASP, will be running in the London Marathon to raise money for the charity.
Beverley Harbor supports people with learning disabilities, and has been taking them to activities offered by the Wokingham group.
She decided to devote her London run to help fund CLASP’s work because of the difference the group makes to the lives of the people she supports.
“I didn’t realise how important CLASP is,” she said, “until I started taking my clients there.
“Society can so often overlook people with learning disabilities, but the charity gives them lots of great opportunities to live a normal life.
“It’s a wonderful organisation, and my clients look forward to everything it offers.
“It gives them things to aim for, provides useful information, and improves their wellbeing.
“I love to watch them come out of their shells, and to see the light in their faces.”
Ms Harbor will take part in the London Marathon on Sunday, April 21.
She has already completed the event, but wants to improve her previous time.
Currently building up her performance, she can regularly be spotted running in the borough, wearing a bright yellow Minion beanie hat.
“I tend to sprint from Bracknell into Wokingham before I turn round and run back,” she said.
“But as I extend my times, I’ll be coming further and further into Wokingham, and would love people who spot me to give me a wave and cheer me on.”
Ms Harbor hopes to raise £500 for CLASP.
