A MUSIC group will be performing rarely performed arrangements at their Spring Concert in March
The Wokingham Choral Society programme includes: Elgar’s Serenade For Strings, Mendelssohn’s Hear My Prayer, and the Duruflé Requiem.
A less well known piece, Finzi’s Lo, The Full Final Sacrifice, will also be performed.
The group says that the choral arrangements chosen by musical director George de Voil will give audiences a treat.
The pieces are usually performed and recorded with a solo organ backing but they have also been scored for choir, soloists and a small orchestra, including: organ, strings, percussion, trumpets and a harp.
These orchestral versions are rarely performed, but will be performed by Chameleon Arts Orchestra.
Condctor is George de Voil, organist is Iestyn Evans, and professional soloists are soprano Charlotte Bowden, tenor Jack Harberd and bass Freddie Crowley.
The event takes place at Reading University Great Hall, on Saturday, March 23.
Doors open at 7.30pm, with tickets available at £17.50 for adults, or £5 for students and under 18s.
