SHEPHERDS, wise men, angels and a Christmas star all visited a Shinfield school on Sunday as a village church held a special Advent service.
Shinfield Community Church retold the events of the first Christmas at its Christingle cafe.
Meeting in Alder Grove Primary School, visitors could enjoy a late breakfast before the re-enactment of the nativity story, featuring church members of all ages as the cast.
Popular carols, including Away In A Manger, were sung, before those present were invited to make a Christingle – an orange with a candle and sweets stuck into it, which Christians say represents Jesus as the light of the world.
The church is to hold a special family nativity service on Sunday, December 10, at 4pm, and a carols by candlelight event on Sunday, December 17, from 6.30pm.
And there will be a family Christmas morning celebration on Christmas Day, at 10am.
These services will be held in Alder Grove, and due to demand tickets are needed for the December 10 and 17 events. Entry is free.
