An evocative Christmas card has been designed to support fundraising efforts in Wokingham for this year’s Royal British Legion poppy appeal.
The original image of a snow-bound Wokingham town hall was captured by organiser David Dunham.
Designer Paul Dunn then superimposed an image of a soldier who left Wokingham to fight in the first World War.
David told Wokingham Today: “This card illustrates the true story of a 16-year-old boy who left Wokingham in 1914, only to be declared missing in action on Christmas day of that year.”
The card represents that boy coming back to his home town to say goodbye.
The card, which will be printed locally at Jay Printers, will be available to buy around Wokingham during this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Any companies or organisations who want to pre-order packs, can get more information from David at david.dunham@virgin.net.
