A FEAST of festive entertainment is promised in Woodley today, thanks to the annual Christmas Extravaganza.
The event takes place in the Crockhamwell Road shopping precinct and will offer something for all ages to enjoy.
Stalls staffed by charities, community groups and local businesses will be spread out across the precinct, offering everything from a bacon butty from the Lions, to Christmas gift ideas.
Street entertainment will come in a variety of guises including Circus Scene’s clowns, jugglers and street performers. There will be performances from Borderline Morris, and R&R Fisher will return with their vintage barrel organ.
The Centre Stage will be pressed into use as a performance area.
The official opening is at 11am, followed by:
- 11.10am – Steppin’ Out Stars of Tomorrow
- 11.30am – BWCB Licuorice Allsorts Clarinet group
- Noon – Bulgarian Folk Dance Group
- 12.30pm – No Strings Attached Ukulele band
- 1.15pm – Niall’s Beatbox
- 1.30pm – Olga and her Talented Dogs
- 1.45pm – Charis-Anne singer
- 2.5pm – Comedy juggling show
- 2.30pm – Glee Club choir.
Santa is also making an appearance, with a grotto set up close to the Centre Stage.
The event runs from 10am to 3pm, and parking in Wokingham Borough Council-owned car parks in Woodley is free today only. However, the council cannot reprogramme the machines and say that they cannot issue refunds for anyone who pays for parking.
Signs will be on the machines to remind people of this free parking.
