Jesus said: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid” – John 14:27
Every now and again life will throw a massive change at us. Sometimes that change is exciting and other times, it can fill us with anxiety and fear.
Moving to a new country is like that, as I found out when I moved to the UK from Kenya 15 years ago.
For the first few months, I was anxious and fearful, dreadfully homesick and with terrible morning sickness, I was expecting our first child. It was stressful in so many ways. But as a Christian, I am a part of a global family too, and Jesus commands us not to be afraid.
So I needed to be intentional about it, and when God connected me with a group of Christians, I found I could be. Soon, the dark clouds of peacelessness began to fade away.
The Bible is filled with encouragement. It says “Do not be afraid” 365 times – once for every day of the year. God knows that in this world, we will be afraid. There are a lot of reasons for fear and anxiety. But the Lord helps us in all circumstances.
Wokingham is growing with people forced to relocate, and today I’m able to help make here a home.
