A property developer appears to have redefined the geographical borders between Wokingham, Crowthorne and Bracknell.
Hill Group is set to launch sales at its 68-home ‘Elmhurst Wokingham’ development this weekend, but the former Beaufort Park office site is clearly part of Bracknell Forest in its Great Hollands South ward, with outline planning approved by that authority in 2018 after initially being refused.
The website for the project also includes references to schools in Wokingham borough that would likely fall outside the catchment area for future residents.
Until alerted by Wokingham Today earlier this week, the website also included ‘local restaurants’, one of which linked to an Italian restaurant a ‘five-minute drive away’ close to Edinburgh in Scotland. That reference has since been removed.
Additional marketing for the development describes the new project as being “The future of housing in Wokingham.”
A spokesperson for The Hill Group told Wokingham Today: “All houses within our new Elmstead development have been allocated an RG40 postcode by Bracknell Forest Council, which covers Wokingham.
“Therefore, our marketing reflects the wider local area and amenities that prospective residents can access.
“Our brochure highlights a range of nearby schools to give prospective buyers an overview of education options in the surrounding area, and we always advise families to check the latest catchment and admissions information directly when making applications.”
